The Answer Ch 1 WIP "You never did apologize." Jane said from her chair. The chair seemed so much bigger than her, in all her plain clothes. The entire house looked enchanted. But Cody wasn't looking at the house, he was looking at her, confusion on his face.
"For what?" They had grown a lot since that day on the street. Both had gone to college but only Jane actually stayed. She was always the stubborn one.
"For knocking me in the river!" Cody looked at her for a second, unsure what she was talking about then a smile spread on his face before he busted out laughing. "It's not funny, Cody! That was really mean."

The Answer Prologue I couldn't help but laugh as we ran through the park. It was so routine, every day after school we would go to the store, buy a bag of chips and share them as we walked home. Sooner or later in our trip we usually ended up in some sort of competition. Sometimes we raced, sometimes we stopped at the swings to see who could jump the farthest.
But once we reached the end of the park, he turned to look at me, his face sad. He looked like he wanted to apologize to me although I couldn't figure out why. We reached a crosswalk and watched the cars drive by.
I didn't realize what had happened till I heard tires screech and I looked up, he was gone. I screamed. He was gone. I knew he was gone.
